How and Why We Give
When you give to God's work through First Baptist Pascagoula, you are investing in ministries throughout our community and the world.
Though we can give in many different ways, the Bible teaches us a baseline standard for giving: the tithe. The word "tithe" literally manes a tenth or 10 percent. Tithing isn't just giving something to God; it is giving back what was His. All that we have or hope to have comes from Him, and tithing is a reminder that God is the supplier of everything.
Biblical Principles Concerning Giving
Tithes are used to support the general operating budget of First Baptist Church (which includes funding mission work around the world).

Biblical Principles Concerning Giving
- Every believer should prayerfully consider the biblical guideline of the tithe (10 percent of income) as a helpful starting point for learning how to give. (Genesis 14:18-20; Malachi 3:8-10; Matthew 23:23)
- Every believer can give biblically, regardless of income. The amount is not as important as the heart as one gives regularly, proportionally, generously, sacrificially, and cheerfully. (Matthew 6:21; 1 Corinthians 16:1-2; 2 Corinthians 9)
- Every believer has a responsibility to support his or her home church financially. (Malachi 3:8-10; 1 Corinthians 9:7-12; 1 Timothy 5:17-18)
- Every healthy church will go through seasons of sacrificial giving, above and beyond regular tithing, to provide for special needs and opportunities. (Exodus 35:4-36:7; Acts 11:27-30)

Beyond the Tithe
In Malachi 3:10 God challenges His people to try to out-give Him. When you give beyond the tithe, it is your opportunity to be extravagantly generous. You can give additional gifts to the general fund (simply referred to as "tithe" in our online giving form) or to specific ministries and funds. You can also give the "beyond the tithe" offering in memory of someone or in honor of someone (you will see that capability in our online giving form).
